Excavation and Accumulation
Assemblage, 2025-26
I like to collect things. I'm attracted to old photographs, and my eye is always looking for natural objects. But really, everything of beauty or oddness may be collected. When placed in assemblages, the objects work together to create meaning, sometimes with a spiritual vibe and other times very irreverent. I like the word excavation because it means digging something up, uncovering it, and bringing it to the surface. The juxtaposition of objects suggests a symbolic interpretation. Perhaps the collective consciousness is working here.
The Excavation shelf is the base and only permanent object. There is now a second shelf called Accumulation. And a third called Triangle.
The compositions exist for only a few days until I photograph them and perhaps post them online, and then they are dismantled to start again.
